Sacramento Kings

Built, launched, and operationalized the Sacramento Kings Discord server, then trained internal teams to manage the community with confidence.

In 2021, I built the official Sacramento Kings Discord server from scratch — delivering a complete community infrastructure for one of the NBA's most passionate regional fanbases.

The Challenge

The Sacramento Kings needed a Discord presence built to the standard of a professional sports franchise — structured, safe, on-brand, and designed to be owned and operated by an internal team with no prior Discord management experience.

The Approach

I approached it as a build-and-handoff engagement: design the right architecture from day one, manage early operations in a live environment so the internal team could learn by doing, and complete a thorough handoff with everything they'd need to run the server confidently without ongoing support.

The Solution

I built the full server infrastructure — channel architecture, role hierarchy, permissions, bots, and a support ticketing system — then managed the community through its early operational period. Alongside day-to-day management I built the complete handoff package for Kings staff: training guides, moderation policies, community guidelines, scenario-based documentation, and escalation procedures. I trained the team directly and remained through operations until they were ready to take full ownership.

The Results

The Sacramento Kings Discord launched in 2021 with every system operational and a fully trained internal team ready to take ownership. The community has since grown to over 6,000 members and continues to operate independently under the Kings' internal team. The engagement concluded with a complete handoff — no ongoing support required.
